Are thermodynamic panels eligible for the RHI?
A few questions and answers:
Q: Are thermodynamic panels for hot water and central heating included in the renewable heat incentive (RHI)? I installed the panels last summer on the understanding it was close to being authorized and that it would be backdated.
A: It sounds as if your installer was misleading you. It is true that the MCS is considering standards for accrediting thermodynamic panels. However, there is no guarantee that they will be accredited. If they are, there is no guarantee that they will eligible for the RHI. If they are eligible, there is no guarantee that installations that pre-date the standards will be included.
I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news and hope for your sake that you do get the RHI. However, anyone considering an installation and wanting to receive RHI should wait for an announcement from the Department of Energy and Climate Change saying that thermodynamic panels are an eligible technology before they install.
